Obama’s Christmas Present from the Senate

by Erik on December 30, 2009

There were no surprises on Christmas Eve as liberal Democrats, under the leadership of Senator Harry Reid, forced through the most corrupt piece of legislation written during my lifetime just so Obama might garner one “accomplishment” to tout during his State of the Union address next month.  This is the Democrats’ Christmas Present to Obama, to be financed with the generous credit of both current and future taxpayers. The only saving grace of this legislation is that Senators like Olympia Snowe resisted the urge to vote for passage and denied any flimsy claims of “bipartisanship.”

Reagan on Socialized Medicine

by Erik on December 24, 2009

It appears Reagan was wrong about one thing.  The liberal Democrat leadership in Washington has shown absolutely no interest in listening to the will of the American people and acting accordingly.  However, he was right about their plan to shove their “foot in the door” with a bill that could later be modified and expanded until the entire health care system has fallen under government control and the private sector has been utterly destroyed.  He was also right about their intentional deception and reliance on entirely emotive arguments unsupported by the devastating reality of the legislation they have written.

This speech, delivered by Ronald Reagan on behalf of Presidential candidate Barry Goldwater, is nearly as applicable now as it was in 1964.

ObamaCare is UnAmerican

by Erik on December 23, 2009

Though Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele took the obligatory bashing from MSNBC and other White House outlets, his claim that Congressional Democrats are essentially “flipping a bird to the American people” was spot on.  Nothing could be more clear than our nation’s opinion on this bill.  While the liberal minority has always fantasized about a Socialist, Single-Payer, Government run system that favors the political class while rationing citizens’ care, most Americans want less government, not more.  Polling data consistently shows over 50% opposition to this monstrous bill and crumbling support in the 30’s.  Despite all of this data, despite all of the protests, Harry Reid and the liberal leadership are willing to fulfill the fantasy of the Democratic National Committee and build a monument to Obama instead of responding to the resounding will of the American people.

For GOP, NO is Only Option on Senate Health Bill

by Erik on December 21, 2009

Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME) is making headlines again after rescinding her support for the Senate version of the Democrats’ Health Care Bill.  While the left is furious because they will no longer be able to claim bipartisan support, this is the right choice.  Make no mistake; this legislation is toxic.  The Democrats are in a race against public opinion which plummets every time new information about the legislation is released.  A mere 34% of the American public think passing the Senate bill is better than doing absolutely nothing.  Reid and the Liberal leadership have dolled out hundreds of millions of our tax dollars to bribe members of their own party for support.  We are witnessing both the hostile takeover of our Health Care system, and the gross undermining of the democratic process.
